Faraba Banta Bush Track

Faraba Banta in itself isn’t that interesting  The only the worthwhile mentioning is the fact that it is the site of the Agriculture and Science facult of the University of the Gambia. But the area is more famous for birdwatching and especially the Faraba Banta Bush Track. This Bush Track is running from Faraba Banta. The track itself is 10 kilometres length. Wahlberg’s Eagle.

Open Woodland

Open woodland and with many tall trees. Excellent for raptors such as Martial Eagle, Gabar Goshawk, Brown Snake Eagle and Black Kite . It is a kind of savanne with a lot of Agricultural like peanuts and cashewnuts.

Special birds

You will find here a lot of Gambian birds: Pink-backed Pelican, Black Kite, Hooded Vulture, African Harrier-Hawk, Dark Chanting Ghoshawk, African Hawk Eagle, Double-spurred Francolin, Red-eyed Dove, Vinaceous Dove, Laughing Dove, Black-billed Wood-Dove, Rose-ringed Parakeet, Western Plantain-eater, Senegal Coucal, Blue-bellied Roller, Red-billed Hornbill (below), African Grey Hornbill, Yellow-fronted Tinkerbird, Vieillot’s Barbet, Bearded Barbet, Eurasian Wryneck, Common Bulbul, Singing Whistling, Zitting Cisticola, Tawny-flanked Prinia, Scarlet-chested Sunbird, Yellow-billed Shrike, Black-crowned Tchagra.
